Clear Condition

There are many different Clear Conditions to choose from. The system will automatically know what objects and how many objects are in a level and what clear conditions can be done with those objects. Some clear conditions are only used in Story Mode.

When n is used, it is a variable number and depends on what the creator set and how much of it is in the level. Infinite sources of Course Parts like Bill Blasters or Pipes will make the Course Part inside count as 10. When the max number is set it'll turn gold and change the name of the condition by a little bit. "Reach the goal with n Toads in tow." is an exception to this rule.

Actions[edit]

These clear conditions are based on actions the player makes or things that happen to the player. There are only two of these that can be used in the Course Maker. In all multiplayer modes, these apply to players individually.

Condition Notes
Reach the goal without taking any damage.
  • This condition will be completed from the start. However, if you take damage at any point, this condition will become incomplete, preventing you from completing the stage.
Reach the goal without landing after leaving the ground.
  • This condition will be completed from the start. However, if you leave and touch the ground again, it will become incomplete, preventing you from completing the stage.

Parts[edit]

These correspond to defeating, collecting, breaking or activating certain numbers of certain types of course parts. In multiplayer versus, the player who causes the condition to be completed is awarded the clear, but other players can steal it by jumping on them. When the player with the clear dies, it goes in a bubble.

  • Big Goombas only count as one Goomba. If you stomp it you have to kill both of the Small Goombas that come out of it for it to count.
  • Shoe and Stiletto Goombas also count.
Reach the goal after defeating at least n Goombrat(s). / Reach the goal after defeating at least n Goombud(s).

  • Big Goombrats only count as one Goombrat. If you stomp it you have to kill both of the Small Goombrats that come out of it for it to count.
Reach the goal after defeating at least n Koopa Troopa(s).

  • Making them hide in their shell wont count, you have to kill them through other means.
  • Both Green and Red Koopa Troopas count.
  • The Beach Koopas inside Koopa Troopa Cars count.

  • Making them hide in their shell wont count, you have to kill them through other means.

  • When the Super Mario World Game Style is switched to, this condition is replaced by the following condition.

  • Switching to Game Styles other than Super Mario World will replace this condition with the previous condition.
  • Fire Piranha Plants don't count, as they have been separated to the following condition.

  • This condition is only available in the Super Mario World Game Style as in other styles, Fire Piranha Plants are grouped with the normal Piranha Plant condition.

  • This is the only condition where a part supersized by a Super Mushroom uses a different condition than the base enemy.

  • Each individual Boo in Boo Buddies counts as one Boo. Killing Parachuting Boo Buddies before they expand will immediately add 8 to the total completeness of the condition.

These clear conditions refer to the player's status, such as power-up forms and held items. These clear conditions apply to players individually in multiplayer.

Reach the goal while holding a POW Block.
  • Unavailable in the Super Mario Bros. style because you can't hold items in that style.

Reach the goal while holding a Trampoline.
  • Unavailable in the Super Mario Bros. style because you can't hold items in that style.
Reach the goal while wearing a Shoe. / Reach the Goal while riding Yoshi.
  • Both Shoes and Stilettos count.
  • Both Green and Red Yoshis count.
Reach the goal as Buzzy Mario.
Reach the goal as Spiny Mario.
Reach the goal in a Koopa Clown Car/Junior Clown Car.
  • Fire Clown Cars also count.
Reach the goal on a Lakitu's Cloud.
Reach the goal in a Koopa Troopa Car.
Reach the goal while wearing a Dry Bones Shell.
Reach the goal while holding a Koopa Shell.

Story Mode Exclusive[edit]

Condition Notes
Reach the goal with n Toad(s) in tow.
  • This is the only amount-related condition where the number does not turn yellow and the there is no alt. text.
  • This condition only appears in the New Super Mario Bros. U Style.
Reach the goal while holding a Stone.
  • This condition appears in every style except the Super Mario Bros. Style as objects cannot be picked up in this style.
  • The Stone also has working functionality with a Super Mushroom and Wings when hacked into the editor, with Story Mode not using either, almost making it seem as if it was intended to be available in the vanilla editor.
Reach the goal without using a Swinging Claw.
Reach the goal without getting out of the water.
  • For context, this condition only appears in one level, a Forest level where the water starts above the player.
Reach the goal after doing a handstand on all (n) Trees.
